Leeds United fans have been waiting a long day for today to tick around in our history – October 17 marks our 100 year birthday as a club and with plenty of comments, and well wishes, centre-half and skipper Liam Cooper wasn’t going to let the day pass without a comment from himself.
Despite being sidelined after picking up an injury during the first half of the victory over West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of the month, Cooper is mildly optimistic he will be back in contention sooner rather than later, but with plenty of eyes on today’s celebrations, he took to social media to offer up.
Happy 100 Years to this unbelievable club! Ups and Downs but always together.. @LUFC ππ»π
— Liam Cooper (@LiamCooper__) October 17, 2019
Having joined from Chesterfield back in 2014, Cooper now boasts 169 appearances for the club but the 28-year-old can relate to the ‘ups and downs’ on a personal level given the criticism he’s received at points, but few can argue he’s become an integral member since he made the switch to Elland Road, and none more so than following the arrival of manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Having recently penned his new five year deal at the club, as we acknowledge the past, the Scotsman should be part of a future for a long time yet.
